How To Use Sky Store

How to Use Sky Store

Use Sky Store is a service that lets customers buy or rent films, TV shows and documentaries. It is accessed via a web interface and desktop app. Is also available on a range of authorized devices such as Roku and NOW TV boxes.

It is a separate service from Sky Cinema and NOW TV subscriptions.  Offers a selection of HD Digital copies of new releases that you can stream and download to multiple devices.

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Sky Store is a service offered by Sky, a British telecommunications company, for renting or purchasing movies and TV shows. The exact steps for using Sky Store may vary based on your region and the specific services offered by Sky. Here is a general guide on how you might use Sky Store:

Buy & Keep

Please note that features and interfaces may have been updated since my last knowledge update, so it’s a good idea to refer to the most recent documentation or customer support resources provided by Sky for the latest and most accurate information.

Buy & Keep allows Sky Store customers to download HD digital copies of movies that are otherwise only available on DVD. Downloads will be available for streaming or watching offline, and they’ll sync across all of the devices that you’re using to access Sky Store. Movies are usually available for purchase a day after they’re released in cinemas, and TV shows will be available on the service a few days before their DVD release. Google

The gimmick of getting a physical DVD copy of each movie you buy might work for some people, but in the age of streaming and downloads it feels like Sky Store is falling behind the curve. It’s also confusing that this service isn’t integrated into any of the NOW packages or even Sky Films, which offers pay-per-view films to Sky customers. Instead, it’s available to non-Sky TV subscribers in the UK through a NOW box or Roku, and in Ireland via a YouView or Roku box.

Streaming

As the UK’s biggest television investment, Sky invests more than £2 billion a year in a wide range of content. This includes original dramas, movies, sports and more. The company is also an industry leader when it comes to innovative TV technology. From its multi-award winning next generation box, Sky Q, to its contract-free online streaming service, NOW TV.

Buy & Keep allows customers to download and stream an HD digital copy of cinema releases before DVD and Blu-ray hits shops. This can be watched on a range of compatible devices, including iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

Customers can also stream Sky Store titles on their Mac or PC, though this requires a Windows software program called the ‘Sky Player’.

Downloading

Sky Store is a film-only service, which allows customers to buy and keep the latest releases, or pick up movies that haven’t yet made their way to Sky Cinema. The company also offers a DVD option for those that prefer the security, flexibility and collectability of a physical disc.

Customers can download shows in SD, HD and Ultra HD where available, and can pause or resume their queue at any time. In addition, they can set their default download format in the Settings menu of their Sky Q box.

However, downloading movies and TV shows requires a WiFi or mobile data connection. Using Store on a mobile device over 3G or 4G will use your data allowance and may incur charges from your provider. In addition, you should be aware that watching downloaded movies over a 3G or 4G connection can consume large amounts of data.

Payment

Sky is one of the UK’s biggest investors in original TV and movies, investing over PS2.5 billion a year across its Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts, and Sky Cinema channels. Its customers also enjoy exclusive partnerships with HBO and Showtime, as well as their award-winning next generation box, Sky Q and contract-free online streaming service, NOW TV.

The Sky Store is a pay-per-view film service that allows you to purchase and download titles and watch them on your devices.  Occasionally, there may be issues that prevent you from making purchases on the Sky. In these instances, it’s best to restart your device or try performing a purchase on another device.
