How to Enable Chat in Zoom Webinar Chat Settings

If you’re wondering how to enable chat in Zoom, it’s simple. You simply sign into the web portal and go to the settings page. In the left column, you will find toggles for enabling chat and private chat. Click on one of them to activate the feature. To turn off, click the lock icon at the top of the window. Then, click the “Enable” button. You’ll receive a confirmation dialog.


If you need to turn off Zoom chats, you must go to your account and click on “Groups”. Then, click on the User Management tab and select “Groups.” From here, choose the Personal category, then select “In Meeting (Basic).” Then, flip the Chat toggle switch off. Depending on your needs, you can enable the chat feature for all participants or turn it off entirely. To enable chat in Zoom, sign in to the desktop client. From there, click the profile picture. If you’re using the desktop client, you’ll be prompted with a pop-up window that has the chat functionality.

To Enable Chat For Use:

  1. Log in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under Meeting (Basic), click the Convert button to enable or disable it.
  5. If you disable Chat, Private chat features and default chats will also be turned off.
  6. When the confirmation box appears, click Open or Close to confirm the change.
  7. Change these settings to get chat permissions, then click Save:
  8. If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account.
  9. Click the lock icon, then click Lock to confirm the setting.

The chat function in Zoom includes the ability to send messages to other people during or outside the meeting. By default, the chat function is enabled for all participants. However, you can control whether you want to enable or disable it for all members of your team. To turn off the chat feature, you need to sign in as an administrator. To do this, you’ll need to log into the Zoom portal site and sign in as the administrator. Scroll down to the chat setting, click the toggle and then click “Secure” to disable the chat feature.
